Orangeville Snowmobile Club - OFSC Permit Information

OFSC Trail Permits

The 2000/2001 OFSC trail permit has returned this year to the rectangular shape of previous seasons but within that rectangular shape it retains the shape of the snowmobile used last year. The main difference is that the permit is now placed horizontally on the windshield. The actual permit will cover last year's permit if one so wishes.

Each OFSC Trail Permit sold applies to one individual sled, regardless of who is riding the sled. That's why the trail permit you buy is only valid when affixed to the sled in the prescribed location. It's not valid in one's pocket or wallet. A trail warden has the right to require that the trail permit be affixed onto the sled's windshield immediately. You may also be required to produce the pink slip that you received when the permit was purchased so always carry it with the snowmobile just like you do with the ownership card and insurance card.

An OFSC provincial trail permit will be $150.00 for the 2000 /2001 season. However, if it is purchased on or before December 1st, 2000 the price is only $120.00.

Trail permits are available from about 200 Trail Building clubs in the province. These clubs follow the "Buy Where You Ride" philosophy.

An OFSC trail permit is required in order to travel the OFSC trail system of 49,000 km. At the present time anyone who is travelling on the OFSC Trail system and found not to have a valid trail permit will be required to purchase one from the Trail Warden or immediately leave the trail system.

The on-trail price for a valid OFSC trail permit is $180.00.

A One Day permit is available this year and may be purchased by anyone. The price of this permit is $30.00 per day and includes GST. The One Day Permit must be purchased before travelling on the trails. One Day permits will expire at midnight on the posted expiry date. One Day permits issued after 4:00 p.m. for immediate use will include the balance of that day plus the following day as the first day. A One Day permit cannot be sold on trail. There is no 7 Day Permit for the 2000/2001 season.
